Project management is the application program of skills, tools, knowledge, and techniques to project actions, to meet project demands. The job focus of the project manager is both minuter and more mysterious than that of the program manager. Project managers are responsible for the project, the project team, and the results the team is working on.

Program Management

A group is related projects managed in an aligned way to obtain benefits and control not available from managing them individually. Programs includes element of related work outside evaluate of the discrete projects in the program.

What is program?

A program is something which delivers a monolithic piece of practicality.

Program’s includes:

  •  Many product deliverables
  • A single product and deliverable
  • Usually focuses on business objective and delivery value
  • Benefit management

Project Management vs Program Management

PM Role Project managers are like engineers, who plan in point to point and provide ways to achieve the vision. Program managers are more like architects, involves overall imaginations made up of functions and form. They think about the structure of the program, organize the projects within the program, to achieve goal success.
PM Strategy Project managers are more tactical, trying to complete tasks and deliverables on time and within budget. Program managers are strategically, looking at the large picture and implementing a strategy to achieve aims, like growth and results.
Finances Projects have a budget allocated to the project and the project manager will manage within that figure. Programs have more complicated and sensible financial management and budget planning activities.
Dead Lines Projects focus around the project deadline. Programs are about business and operations. They have much larger durations using long-term strategy and planning and constant improvements to focus.
